Dataflow (work in progress)

Dataflow is a work-in-progress project exploring the representations of arbitrary data under different file formats.

It is a continuation of the themes first set out in my 2009 Databending with Audacity tutorial and artworks such as Some of My Favourite Songs and Sonification Studies.

A chunk of data is generated through a complex Pure Data patch. The binary data has no form of its own but represents a repeating pattern of 1s and 0s.

This data is then converted using a series of different software and under different conditions, for example under different resolutions and aspect ratios.

As the data itself has no limits or boundaries, different patterns and forms are revealed when the data is rendered at different sizes.
